In this paper, Andrew Caplin, Nöel Cunningham, Mitchell Engler and Frederick Pollock argue that development of shared appreciation mortgage (SAM) markets would moderate the impending decline in homeownership and lower the risk of future housing crashes. Save to My Portfolio $25,000 Awarded to Students in Hamilton Project Policy Innovation Prive Competition

The Hamilton Project announced the winners of the 2008 Hamilton Project Policy Innovation Prize. Nathan Punwani, a recent graduate of Lehigh University, is the winner of the undergraduate prize and Robert Nelb, a student at Yale University, is the winner of the graduate-level prize. Kaitlyn Murphy of the University of Maryland and James Coan of Princeton University were chosen as runners-up in the competition. Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin, a founding member of The Hamilton Project Advisory Council, will award the prizes to Punwani and Nelb at an event in Washington, DC on December 5th. Read More

Formerly minister of Economic Development and Transportation, and director of National Planning of Colombia, his research focuses on international and development economics. He is also the president of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA).

Doug Elmendorf, whose government posts have included the Federal Reserve, Treasury, Council of Economic Advisors, and CBO, focuses his research on macroeconomics and fiscal policy.
